Hey there! I’m Jerrol. Pronounced like Jerry + Carol

Except my parents are Jennifer + Errol and were apparently having a grand ole time trying to name me a Jr. without naming me a Jr. (I love you both if you’re reading this). When I was a small human, one of my favorite things was flipping through my parents’ photo albums. The best ones had pictures so steeped in nostalgia that they began to stick to the plastic. I love how unphased we all looked in them, as if the eternities captured in those frames were nothing but moments. The smells, sounds, and sensations are still there. Which makes me feel like photography, both still and moving, is the closest thing we have to time travel. My family didn’t have the kind of money that high quality photography required, so most of our stories live on thanks to pharmacy-grade disposable cameras. That didn’t take away from the beauty in those photos, but looking back, I think about the important moments and stories that weren’t given the attention they deserved.

I’m no longer a small human, and the power of creating my family’s albums has been passed on to me. I’ve escaped the brutal winters of New England to lay roots in Houston, TX; a city I proudly call home with my wife (Tina), our newborn son, and cat (Terra). I work as a registered nurse when I am not behind the camera; a profession I’ve been so proud to be apart of for nearly a decade. I enjoy good food, good music, and I have a slight inclination to anything matte black. I started Our Eternity Studios in 2017 with the purpose of creating accessible high quality photos and films for all spectrums of people. My wife (Vietnamese) and I (Jamaican) were pretty disappointed when looking for a photographer and inspiration for our engagement. The #engagement tag on all platforms was noticeably sparse of couples that looked like us. And those precious few that I did find were often not the quality of story telling and art that I hoped to have for our own engagement and wedding.

My goal whenever you stand in front of my camera is to capture your story; to create images that hold time and emotion still for you to enjoy and relive every time you look at them, as if straight out of your parents’ photo albums. I hope to give those that think that they cannot afford high quality photography an affordable and accessible way to document those precious moments. And to the couples like Tina and I, who might have vastly different cultures, traditions, and ways to love, just know that I put in the time and effort to capture your eternities as if they were my own.

Bonus facts about me for those that made it this far through my rambling.

  • Connecticut has the best pizza in the country.

  • Nujabes was a musical hero.

  • Avatar the Last Airbender should be considered an honorary anime and thus present in the conversation of top 5 anime of all time; alongside Full Metal Alchemist (Brotherhood), Naruto Shippuden, Hunter x Hunter, and DBZ
